Chinese electric vehicle maker XPeng revealed in April its plan to launch a factory-direct distribution setup in Australia, and the brand has now offered a preview of the fresh models slated for arrival.

A company representative stated that the team is finalizing the local lineup now that XPeng ANZ is managing operations directly down under.

Initial updates will focus on the refreshed G6 and the X9, with specifics on Australian specs and prices coming in the second quarter.

This means XPeng ANZ will disclose pricing and features for the enhanced mid-size EV SUV and the all-new people mover by June's end.

The representative noted interest in additional vehicles like the G9L and P7 sedan, but emphasized no firm plans for local availability, specs, or timelines yet.

Any potential newcomers must align with Australian market needs, business goals, and buyer preferences, as expected.

In April, XPeng ANZ not only set up its independent factory-supported network apart from partner TrueEV but also brought on a new senior leadership team locally.

The company is actively building a dealer presence in key areas of New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia, and South Australia, with service and support ready for debut - though the exact start date remains pending.

TrueEV had flagged the updated G6, X9, and unrevealed G9L for Australia back in December, all targeted for this year.

XPeng and TrueEV are locked in legal proceedings, with a court date in October.

XPeng claims its in-house sales and service setup would perform far superior, while TrueEV accuses the brand of improper behavior after receiving termination notice for their exclusive deal effective January 1, 2026.

TrueEV's CEO Jason Clarke recently issued a letter apologizing for limited updates since the dispute surfaced over two months ago.

He reaffirmed commitment to honoring warranties and clearing cashback delays.

We are doing all we can to ensure seamless service... TrueEV stays dedicated to our customers, partners, and the XPeng marque in Australia, he wrote.

The final resolution remains uncertain, including if XPeng might share distribution with third parties in Australia, similar to Suzuki's approach.

TrueEV currently handles just the G6 mid-size EV SUV locally.

XPeng ANZ's referenced new G6 is a mid-cycle refresh of this Tesla Model Y competitor, unveiled earlier this year.

Styling tweaks are minor: a full-width front light bar repositions the logo to the hood, joined by a revised rear spoiler and alloy wheels.

Cabin upgrades swap the 14.9-inch touchscreen for a 15.6-inch panel with sharper visuals and smoother controls.

It pairs with the 10.25-inch driver display behind a reworked wheel with touch-sensitive buttons, plus upgraded seating and ambient lights.

European versions offer a 185kW/440Nm rear-drive setup with a 68.5kWh LFP pack for 455km WLTP range.

Opt for the 80.8kWh pack and gain 525km range with 218kW output.

The top AWD Performance pairs it with 358kW/660Nm and 510km range.

Every G6 boasts an 800V architecture; smaller battery takes 11kW AC/382kW DC, larger hits 451kW DC.

Australia's current G6 choices include a 66kWh LFP/190kW RWD at 435km WLTP or 87.5kWh NMC/210kW at 570km.

The X9 joins a wave of premium Chinese MPVs here, challenging Zeekr 009, Denza D9, and GWM's contender this year.

Chinese spec includes 235kW/450Nm FWD or AWD with added 135kW/190Nm rear motor.

Air-suspended with 800V tech and 94.8-110kWh batteries, it claims up to 750km CLTC range by variant.

XPeng added an EREV X9 last year with 1.5L turbo petrol generator, 63.3kWh battery, and 452km CLTC total range.

In its home market, XPeng is growing fast, with G9L, L03, and L05 SUVs appearing in certification docs alongside the GX EREV flagship.

These will expand XPeng's SUV portfolio in China to double size, covering G6, G7, G9, while sedans include M03, P7, P7+.
