Tesla

Fifteen years have passed since Tesla's leader first promised a next generation Roadster, along with countless unkept commitments. Now in late 2026 we finally see what the new model may look like, though skepticism remains warranted. This version differs from the 2017 concept once slated for 2020 output. The latest reveal leads us to our question of the day.

We invite your opinions on this latest Tesla creation. Do you like the design? Do you dislike it? Do you expect the thrusters and suction system to appear in actual production cars? If you do, I have a bridge ready to sell because that level of optimism may be misplaced.

Speaking of...

Tesla

On the topic of excessive optimism, let us review the long list of missed targets for this second generation Roadster. The story began in 2011 near the end of the first model when production was projected for 2014. By 2015 the target had moved to 2019.

A surprise prototype appeared in 2017 during the Semi event, which itself faced delays, with a planned 2020 launch and roughly two hundred thousand dollar starting price. Early deposits of fifty thousand dollars secured test rides, and by the next year the plan included ten cold gas thrusters plus a SpaceX package along with sub one second acceleration and ground effect technology.

Further postponements followed. A 2023 meeting set 2024 production. In 2024 the date became 2025. In 2025 it shifted to 2026. Here we are now.

Even with the current look and claimed performance figures, the final production vehicle may differ greatly. Recall how the Cybertruck changed from its debut version.
