The Toyota GRMN Corolla represents the brand's most extreme five-door hatch yet, scheduled to arrive in Australian showrooms during 2027 in strictly limited volumes.

Starting from the existing GR Corolla, engineers applied extensive changes that include deleting the rear seats to produce a two-seater layout plus fresh calibration of the drivetrain, suspension and steering.

A motorsport-inspired aero kit appears, echoing recent GR Yaris parts, with the package shaped by the company's racing program according to Toyota Australia vice president John Pappas.

Under chairman Akio Toyoda, who competes as Morizo, the GR line draws directly from track experience, and this model received final development at the Nurburgring, Pappas noted.

The approach embodies the GR philosophy and yields a focused driver's car equally capable on circuit or public roads.

Power comes from the familiar 1.6-litre turbo three-cylinder now rated at 221kW and 408Nm, with the all-wheel-drive system further optimised for the package.

Monotube dampers were retuned for track use while electric power steering gained sharper high-load response.

Wider Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres sit at each corner, and the aero additions comprise a five-position rear roof spoiler, front side spoilers plus bonnet and fender vents.

The cabin features low-set racing bucket seats shaped for helmet clearance, a distinctive instrument panel, Alcantara steering wheel and Morizo embroidery on the dash.

Collectively the revisions cut 40kg, bringing kerb weight to 1450kg, and the car will be offered solely with a six-speed manual.

Two exclusive colours are planned: a matte black finish shown in official images and a new khaki hue reserved for Australia and North America.

The model follows the earlier GR Corolla Morizo Edition of 2023, another two-seater limited to 25 Australian units.

GRMN specification requires each car to complete proper laps of the Nurburgring, hence the badge denoting Gazoo Racing tuned by the Meister of Nurburgring.

Aero and suspension elements also benefited from Toyota's Super Taikyu endurance program, where a hydrogen-powered GR Corolla serves as a development testbed.

Pricing remains undisclosed, yet expectations point toward a figure near 80000 dollars given the standard manual GTS starts at 67990 dollars before on-road costs.
