Home electric vehicle chargers are now available starting at just $95 in southeast Queensland after rebates of up to $1100 funded by the federal government's Australian Renewable Energy Agency.

Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment is delivering the discounts on smart charging hardware, with a single-phase 7kW unit from $95 and a three-phase 22kW model from $379 once the rebate applies.

Buyers must cover installation expenses, which EVSE estimates range from $1370 to $1470 based on site conditions.

This results in total outlays of roughly $1415 for the single-phase option and $1849 for the three-phase version, with both systems designed to integrate with solar storage setups.

The ARENA-backed subsidy applies only to households in southeast Queensland postcodes served by the Energex distribution network.

That network serves about 1.48 million homes across Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Ipswich, Logan and Toowoomba areas.

The promotion runs for a limited period with a restricted number of discounted units available, though no firm end date has been set.

Units link to a Demand Flexibility Platform that lets suppliers adjust charging to match grid demand and support overall stability.

EVSE chief executive Sam Korkees stated the project supports smooth home charging for new EV owners while aiding flexible load management for the network.

ARENA recently added $13.6 million to Amber Electric for vehicle-to-grid work as part of a larger $16.8 million package, following earlier allocations including $21 million for zero-emissions transport and $18 million for ultra-fast chargers in major cities plus rural New South Wales infrastructure.

EV uptake continues to rise, highlighted by the Tesla Model Y topping overall monthly sales charts in May and June 2026 when electric models reached a record 23.3 per cent share.
