Stellantis installed a prototype solid-state battery pack from supplier Factorial into a Dodge Charger Daytona.
The modified Charger Daytona launches a road-testing initiative that brings this advanced technology nearer to use in future production models.
Stellantis and Factorial report the pack delivers 375 watt-hours per kilogram along with a recharge from 15 to 90 percent in 18 minutes.

Solid-state batteries have long been discussed for their ability to deliver greater energy density and quicker charging compared with current options. Despite ongoing excitement, these cells have yet to reach production vehicles sold in the United States.

Stellantis has now moved the technology forward by placing a Factorial solid-state pack inside a Dodge Charger Daytona test car to start real-world evaluation.

The companies first revealed plans for a test fleet of solid-state Charger Daytonas last autumn, with testing scheduled to start in 2026. The program is now underway. A similarly liveried Charger Daytona was recently observed during Stellantis Investor Day at company headquarters in Auburn Hills, Michigan.

The test vehicle uses Factorial's FEST battery cells, marking the first integration of solid-state technology into a Stellantis model. During 2025 demonstrations the partners highlighted an energy density of 375 watt-hours per kilogram, a 15-to-90-percent charge in 18 minutes, and stable operation across temperatures from -22 degrees F to 113 degrees F.

Stellantis integrated the FEST cells into the existing pack through a revised mechanical layout while updating control systems and overall pack design to improve output while preserving safety and longevity. The company has not disclosed the length of the test program or a production timeline, though multiple firms target solid-state batteries by 2030. The launch of this evaluation nevertheless signals meaningful progress toward the technology.
