Rolls-Royce led the way among ultra-luxury makers by releasing an electric model with the Spectre in 2023. While rivals postponed or dropped electric vehicle projects, the Spectre quickly rose as one of the brand's strongest recent performers. For the second straight year in 2025 it ranked as the second best-selling model after the Cullinan and draws strong interest for custom orders.

Following close review of owner input along with observations of real-world use and desired features, Rolls-Royce now unveils the Spectre Series II. Although the overall design receives only minor updates compared to the more visible changes on the Ghost Series II and Cullinan Series II, the refreshed model gains extra power, greater range, quicker charging, and many new personalization choices. Textile upholstery or leather with cloud-style perforations are now available, but the standout for enthusiasts is the revised clock with aviation influences.

More power and range arrive even if not strictly required

Rolls-Royce has not confirmed any increase in battery size, but improved cell technology raises range by as much as 18 percent for an estimated EPA figure near 320 miles. Charging times drop by 14 percent and U.S. versions include a NACS port. Output rises to 593 horsepower and 749 pound-feet of torque on the standard model for gains of 16 hp and 85 lb-ft, while the Black Badge reaches 671 hp and 811 lb-ft with additions of 21 hp and 18 lb-ft.

The company stated that performance and range already met client needs, so only limited changes were made. Average annual mileage sits around 4,000 miles, similar to other current two-door models from the brand whose overall average reaches about 10,000 miles yearly, and owners typically have six other vehicles. Still, the firm notes rising use for enjoyment, with most Spectres driven alone, charged at home, and used daily.

New wheels require six hours of hand finishing

A fresh 23-inch wheel design appears, though its appeal is limited given the sharp radii under a tenth of an inch that demand six hours of hand finishing per wheel. The Black Badge gains a seven-spoke wheel with fine glass flakes in the finish that many will prefer, even if the spokes remain non-directional. Iced Black exterior trim replaces standard brightwork on request, and matte versions keep the front grille vanes polished. A gradient two-tone paint finish becomes available for the first time, though color choices stay limited on the configurator.

Otherwise the exterior stays essentially unchanged with no adjustments to lights or bumpers. The Spectre already ranked among the brand's strongest modern designs, so further changes were unnecessary. Design director Domagoj Dukec notes that clients often mention the Spectre's styling as a key reason for their order.

The cabin now offers two upholstery choices first seen on the Cullinan Series II: Duality Twill and Placed Perforation. The twill uses rayon from bamboo and draws from a grove near Sir Henry Royce's winter residence with a pattern of linked R motifs that recall yacht rigging. Production takes up to 25 hours with 10 miles of thread and 2.6 million stitches. Over 50 embroidery colors are possible though Black, Chocolate, Lilac, and Sage serve as primary selections. The material can extend to door panels for added impact.

Placed Perforation leather draws from cloud silhouettes under moonlight and appears only on headrests and upper seat shoulders with 78,138 holes in three sizes. When paired with the Starlight door option the pattern fades near each light source to create a gentle diffusion like stars through moving clouds. The effect is striking.

The new clock reflects aviation clarity and precision

The illuminated fascia now contains 8,108 light points with a wave pattern inspired by mist in the South Downs woodlands near Goodwood. Beside it the Clock Gallery features an up-lit stainless steel Spirit of Ecstasy miniature. The clock itself receives a redesign with cast metal hands and a modern aviation-inspired appearance that emphasizes clear readability.

A new Brindled Walnut trim uses two woods for a tiger-stripe effect: walnut from non-fruiting trees normally discarded and eucalyptus fibers left from paper making. The materials are compressed, sliced into sheets, sealed with glass-flake lacquer, and topped with clearcoat to give the sense of suspended shimmer.

These represent only the standard offerings. Rolls-Royce can produce nearly any request, and Spectre buyers frequently do so. The model ranks second only to the Phantom in both the volume of bespoke commissions and the extent of customization per vehicle.
