Elana selected the standard Sport package since the M Sport version focuses mainly on appearance upgrades without performance gains, and she prefers the cleaner front end of the Sport setup over the prominent gloss black accents on the M model.

Regarding exterior color, she considered two purple tones but found both gave the iX3 an eggplant-like appearance, so she chose Malachite Dark Green Metallic instead for its sophisticated and bold presence on the vehicle. This hue carries a $4500 premium, leading her to note that the lighter Eucalyptus shade at $650 might appeal more for budget-conscious buyers seeking a green finish. She usually avoids large wheels yet found the 22-inch aero multispoke design ($1350) appealing due to its resemblance to a mid-century-modern clock backsplash.

For the cabin, she avoided leather in favor of the distinctive Agave Green leather-free trim, evoking a 1960s vibe before most interiors shifted to black, gray, or tan tones. The green-on-green scheme offers a calming effect with a surprising pop of color upon opening the doors.

She skipped the technology and driver-assistance bundles to focus on personal driving enjoyment but included the parking assist system with 360-degree camera ($750) to protect the large wheels. The $2500 M Sport kit offers a similar appearance, yet he valued the additional $1500 for black mirror caps plus upgraded M Sport brakes. He hoped the $4500 Java Green Metallic paint would divert attention from the vehicle's boxy, rounded shape, and he selected the bi-colored 21-inch M Aero wheels with staggered summer tires for their blend of style and sportiness.

Inside, he chose the white upholstery at no cost, anticipating a potential trade-in before wear appears. He finds the white cabin attractive and appreciates BMW's updated digital dashboard layout. Although a matching white steering wheel costs $250, he avoided it to retain the M Sport wheel without its awkward 12 o'clock spoke. He added nearly every available option to improve daily usability, including the $2500 Driving Assistance Professional package, $1500 Comfort package, $1200 Technology package, $750 Parking Assistance package, $750 trailer hitch, $500 heated rear seats, $240 panoramic sunroof shade, and $200 three-zone climate system.
