The 2027 Nissan Pathfinder marks its 40th anniversary with a Special Edition that includes a striking black-and-burgundy interior inspired by the original model's upholstery.
The Pathfinder Special Edition also includes 20-inch wheels, a 12-speaker Bose sound system, a panoramic sunroof, and increased towing capacity.
The 2027 Pathfinder arrives in showrooms next month, with the front-wheel-drive Special Edition starting at $48,965 and the all-wheel-drive version starting at $50,965.

Nissan has sold more than 2 million Pathfinders since the model first appeared in 1986 as the 1987 model year. After 40 years of production, the Pathfinder continues to compete well in the midsize SUV segment, even though it has grown substantially from its early days as a compact two-door utility vehicle.

To honor the milestone, the current three-row SUV receives distinctive styling updates. The 2027 Pathfinder Special Edition blends elements of the first-generation model with modern features to connect past and present.

The most noticeable retro touch is found inside, where two-tone black-and-burgundy upholstery echoes the 1987 model's interior. Seats and door panels receive the bold contrasting color scheme. An embossed graphic on the passenger-side dashboard highlights the Special Edition along with the Pathfinder's original launch year.

Exterior updates remain more restrained. The upper air intakes on the heritage-inspired grille receive burgundy accents to match the cabin. A badge similar to the interior graphic appears on the C-pillar, and the Pathfinder lettering at the rear includes burgundy highlights as well.

The anniversary trim adds upgraded equipment such as black 20-inch wheels, a panoramic sunroof, a 12-speaker Bose sound system, second-row captain's chairs, and rear door sunshades.

The Pathfinder Special Edition uses a 284-hp 3.5-liter V-6 paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission, offered in front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. While standard models tow up to 3500 pounds, the upgraded towing package included on the Special Edition raises the limit to 6000 pounds.

Front-wheel-drive Special Editions start at $48,965, while all-wheel-drive versions begin at $50,965. The new trim sits near the top of the Pathfinder lineup but remains below Platinum and Premium models. The 2027 Pathfinders reach dealerships next month.
