The Nissan Tekton has made its official debut in India as a compact SUV that draws on the Renault Duster platform yet adds distinctive styling touches reminiscent of the larger Patrol model.

Production takes place at the Chennai facility, where the vehicle utilises the third-generation Duster architecture introduced earlier this year. Key visual changes include a sharper front end with an angular layout, an elevated grille section, headlamps echoing the latest Y63 Patrol design, and prominent Tekton lettering across the hood.

Side profiles show simplified sill and door cladding along with faux vents at the front door edges that nod to the new Patrol. Rear updates feature revised tail-light patterns, oversized Tekton emblems, and an altered bumper design.

The cabin adopts a more refined and upscale appearance compared with European Dacia versions, featuring upgraded materials and finishes suited to the Indian market.

Nissan has refreshed the dashboard with a new passenger-side trim element, increased use of piano-black accents around the air vents, and a revised combination of colours for trim and seating surfaces.

A 10.1-inch central touchscreen running Google services sits at the heart of the dashboard and aligns visually with either a 7.0-inch or 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster through a glossy black panel.

Standard safety equipment encompasses six airbags, adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane-keeping assistance, and blind-spot detection.

Powertrain choices in India comprise a 74kW/160Nm mild-hybrid 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol for base models and a 120kW/280Nm 1.4-litre turbo four-cylinder for higher grades.

The 1.8-litre hybrid option available on the Indian Duster is not offered in the Tekton lineup.

Within the Indian Nissan range the Tekton joins the Gravite people mover, the Magnite sub-4m SUV, and the imported X-Trail as one of just four current models.

Sales will extend to around 50 markets throughout Asia and the Middle East, while Australian Duster variants continue to be sourced from Romania with distinct rear styling, interior layouts, and powertrain specifications.

Despite reduced ties following the departure of former CEO Carlos Ghosn, Nissan and Renault continue selective vehicle collaborations, including the upcoming Micra based on the Renault 5 for European buyers.
