Car manufacturers often reserve their finest efforts for the conclusion, and McLaren follows this tradition. The brand concludes production of the 720S, 765LT, and 750S models with a standout finale designed to surpass prior versions. The 788HS represents the pinnacle of Woking supercars and is offered in Coupe or Spider form, each limited to 100 units.

Power comes from the established twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8, now producing 777 hp and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque. This enables acceleration to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 2.8 seconds, a 124 mph (200 km/h) time of seven seconds, and a top speed of 205 mph (330 km/h).

The lightest configuration requires choosing the Coupe over the Spider. It weighs 1,265 kilograms (2,789 pounds) dry, achieving the series-best power-to-weight ratio of 614 hp per metric ton. Buyers may also select an optional full carbon-fiber exterior from McLaren.

Beyond engine upgrades and weight savings, the 788HS produces 10 percent more downforce than the 765LT via a new aero package featuring an F1-inspired rear diffuser. Additional elements include a revised front splitter, raised active rear wing, and updated hood S-duct to minimize turbulence effects.

The front axle is lowered 5 millimeters (0.2 inches) compared to the 750S through refined hydraulic suspension. Braking uses Senna-sourced carbon-ceramic discs paired with new forged center-lock wheels, introducing this combination to the lineup.

This marks only the third High Sport model after the 2012 MP4-12C HS and 2016 MSO HS. McLaren Special Operations will customize all 200 vehicles extensively.
