Mahindra has brought the XUV 3XO Black Edition to Australian dealerships to mark the first anniversary of the light SUV entering the local market last year, where it tied as the country's most affordable new SUV with the Chery Tiggo 4.

Production is capped at 300 examples, with the XUV 3XO Black Edition listed from $28,485 drive-away, a $1495 increase over the AX7L flagship it derives from, and it features a dark theme throughout the cabin and exterior.

Changes include Stealth Black body paint paired with a Matte Galvano Grey roof, gloss-black 17-inch alloy wheels fitted with black centre caps, a darkened grille, and black exterior badges.

The cabin gains a rear luggage tray along with dark aluminium door sills.

It retains all AX7L equipment such as LED front fog lights, black leatherette seats, matching dash and door trim, a panoramic Skyroof sunroof, a 10.25-inch digital cluster, and a 10.25-inch infotainment display.

Wired and wireless Apple CarPlay plus Android Auto come standard, as does a Harman Kardon audio setup with amplifier and subwoofer, and a cooled glovebox.

Power comes from an 82kW/200Nm 1.2-litre turbo three-cylinder petrol engine paired with a six-speed automatic sending drive to the front wheels, with combined fuel use rated at 6.5L/100km.

Mahindra Australia does not submit sales data to the FCAI VFACTS system, yet the XUV 3XO joined a highly contested segment upon its local debut on July 2, 2025.

The base XUV 3XO AX5L matched the Chery Tiggo 4 Urban at $23,990 drive-away, positioning both as Australia's lowest-priced new SUVs at launch.

Chery delivered 13,368 Tiggo 4 units in Australia over the first half of 2026, claiming the top spot among small SUVs.

Mahindra also sells the nation's cheapest seven-seat SUV, the XUV700, from $37,990 drive-away, undercutting the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max Urban by $1000.
