Despite Kia's recent expansion into numerous vehicle types, a direct replacement for the Stinger remains absent. That said, an electric sports sedan is under consideration. Kia's design chief has confirmed that a showroom version of the Vision Meta Turismo concept from last year is being crafted, positioned as a sports sedan tailored for the gamer generation.

Speaking to Autocar magazine, Karim Habib explained Kia's intent to venture beyond SUVs into sedan territory. Notably, a fastback variant is reportedly 90 percent ready for production, suggesting it could also hit the roads eventually.

Both versions will skip traditional engines, as Kia's interior design head notes that younger consumers show less enthusiasm for internal combustion powertrains compared to prior generations. Jochen Paesen also observes that this demographic dismisses synthetic engine sounds and faux gear changes - features increasingly adopted by rivals like Hyundai's Ioniq 6 N.

Lacking simulated ICE traits, Kia remains assured of creating a strong bond between drivers and its electric offerings. The concept hints at a GT-grade sedan built purely for sportiness, akin to the Stinger. Habib conceded, however, that the project's specialized performance focus is impeding advancement due to substantial costs. Unlike sport variants of standard models, this will be a purpose-built performance EV.

"Our track record includes vehicles like the Stinger, and we intend to continue that legacy. The Vision Meta Turismo represents our vision for a gamer-generation sports sedan."

The concept debuted publicly last month at Milan Design Week, where Kia avoided detailed specs but touted a thrilling, immersive drive in a sleek sedan boasting a luxurious cabin.

With no concrete launch date announced, the electric sports sedan likely won't reach dealerships anytime soon.
