The Hyundai i30 Sedan N Monochrome has been introduced worldwide, with Australia positioned as one of the earliest markets to receive the exclusive variant, restricted to 200 units locally.

Arriving in showrooms next month, the i30 Sedan N Monochrome offers more understated exterior and interior updates compared to the standard i30 Sedan N, with only Korea and Canada also confirmed for this special edition.

It serves as a final run model for the i30 Sedan N, which first reached Australian showrooms in 2021, following the approach of the i20 N Shadow Edition that signaled the close of the smaller hatchback lineup in June 2026.

The current i30 Hatch N is also approaching the end of its Australian availability, with remaining stock projected to extend into 2027, while the standard i30 Hatch may face discontinuation, as non-N versions have already been phased out locally.

Although an N variant has not yet been displayed, a new generation of the i30 Sedan was introduced in June 2026 featuring a more dynamic exterior design, with expectations for arrival in Australia offering petrol and hybrid options during the first half of 2027.

Having considered customer feedback for a more restrained high-performance option, visual highlights were minimized to emphasize form, texture and materials in creating a monochromatic version of the i30 Sedan N that remains subtle yet distinctly N, noted Joon Park, vice president and head of Hyundai N division, in a statement.

Pricing and additional specifics remain unconfirmed, though it is anticipated to exceed the cost of the standard i30 Sedan N, currently listed at $53,500 before on-road expenses in six-speed manual or eight-speed dual-clutch automatic configurations.

The Monochrome edition will be available in two exterior colors only: Abyss Black Pearl, a $595 premium paint choice on the regular model, and Performance Blue at no extra cost.

Both hues pair with newly styled 19-inch forged alloy wheels in black, while the typical red brake calipers receive a black finish as well.

The darker motif carries through to sections of the front bumper, side sills and rear diffuser, complemented by unpainted carbon-fiber mirror caps and a rear spoiler.

Inside, an exclusive Alcantara-trimmed steering wheel features all-black buttons, with Alcantara also applied to the seats in place of the leather found in the standard i30 Sedan N.

No alterations affect the 206kW/392Nm 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, which delivers power to the front wheels.

Hyundai Australia has verified that the 200 Monochromes will feature a combination of manual and DCT versions, with roughly 170 equipped with the DCT.

This allocation aligns closely with the standard i30 Sedan N sales pattern, where about 90 per cent of buyers opt for the DCT.

The i30 Sedan N has represented nearly a quarter of N model sales in Australia since the division's local launch in 2018, accounting for 5420 of the total 22,474 units sold through the end of September 2026.

The sedan ranks second only to the i30 Hatch N, the first N model introduced here, which has comprised more than half of the division's local sales.

Overall, N models, including the i20 N hatch, Kona SUV and electric Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6, have made up four per cent of Hyundai Australia's sales year-to-date.
