Supercars and heavy traffic dominate the roads near the Monaco Grand Prix, yet Günther Steiner favors a far simpler option: his trusty 50cc scooter.

Chatting with the ex-Haas F1 Team Principal in the paddock, I wondered how his typical race weekend had shifted after leaving team leadership. Over ten years, Steiner helped shape Haas into a solid outfit and won over fans via Netflix Drive to Survive.

His reply showed a schedule that remains active yet far less intense.

"I always base myself in Beausoleil at a friend's place," Steiner explained to Paddock Magazine. "It lets me avoid the chaos down below."

His trip to the circuit has turned into one of the easiest parts of the event.

"I use a scooter, a 50cc model," he noted. "Heading to the track, it is the fastest way to get around. You can plan your time, since driving a car in Monte Carlo might mean 15 minutes or an hour and 15 minutes."

Steiner now focuses on media work rather than pit-wall calls on race Sunday.

"I arrive in the morning and handle TV duties," he said. "That includes Canal Plus plus some RTL segments."

The morning begins at the Canal+ studio, followed by sponsor events at top Monaco spots.

"It usually starts with five to ten minutes at the Canal+ studio. After that come corporate sessions, often at the Hermitage or Hotel de Paris. That takes about an hour, then right before the race I appear on RTL, the German broadcaster."

The high-pressure calls from his team days are behind him. Now he views the action from another angle.

"I watch the race from the Pirelli motorhome," he said. "They generously host me there."

The finish line does not end his tasks.

"After the race I return to Canal Plus, then contribute to BBC Radio," Steiner noted.

The day wraps up in classic Steiner style.

"That covers everything. Then I hop on my small scooter and head back to Beausoleil."
