New online leaks highlight the boxy Yue 7 from Chinese manufacturer GAC, a direct competitor to the Denza B5, equipped with a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) setup delivering close to 200km of pure electric driving range.

Although it debuted publicly at Auto China 2026 in Beijing last month, official specs and powertrain data remain under wraps - until now, with social media posts spilling the details.

A spokesperson for GAC Australia declined to confirm the Yue 7's local arrival, but the brand has indicated interest in various models from its international portfolio. A recent press release mentioning the SUV bolsters its chances for an Australian rollout.

Images shared by automotive insider Tycho de Feijter on X showcase Chinese government filings for the Yue 7, marketed there under GAC's Trumpchi sub-brand.

It might arrive Down Under as the 'T75', its internal designation.

These filings describe the SUV's rugged, squared-off design on a 4999mm-long body - 78-111mm longer than the Denza B5 and 9mm beyond the shortest Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series.

Boasting a 2900mm wheelbase, the GAC measures 2004mm wide and 1933mm high, positioning it wider yet marginally shorter than the 300 Series, and very similar in scale to the B5.

Reported off-road credentials include a 30-degree approach angle and 33-degree departure angle. By contrast, the LandCruiser 300 Series offers 30 degrees approach and 24 degrees departure, depending on the variant.

GAC has touted a 'digital chassis' for the off-roader, identified in the leak as the GMC Thunder 3.0 platform - also known as 'Stellar Power' - tailored for PHEV applications.

Propelling the 2330kg Yue 7, the hybrid system pairs a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol four-cylinder producing 125kW with dual electric motors enabling all-wheel drive. Specific electric motor power and combined system output remain undisclosed.

A CATL-sourced battery powers the motors, available in 28.3kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) or a bigger 45kWh option.

Electric-only range hits 116km with the smaller pack and 188km with the larger one, though the testing standard - WLTP or CLTC - is unspecified.

For context, the Denza B5 employs a 31.8kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) 'Blade' battery claiming 90km WLTP range.

GAC entered the Australian market late in 2025 with three models spanning plug-in hybrids, EVs, and petrol engines, aiming for eight vehicles by 2029.

In China, it oversees brands like Trumpchi (home to the Yue 7), Aion, and Hyptec, but all imports here carry the unified GAC badge.

Note that the Yue 7 differs from the S7, a Toyota Kluger alternative with PHEV tech, which was showcased at GAC's Sydney launch as a potential import.

GAC has locked in a Ford Ranger-style dual-cab ute for Australia by 2027 at the latest, alongside prospects for several SUVs from its range.
