While the compartment could hold a phone or wallet, the Expedition already includes a locking glovebox, indicating the vault serves a more specialized purpose.

Console Vault supplies kits for numerous Ford models including the Bronco, Bronco Sport, Edge, Escape, Explorer, F-Series trucks, Mach-E, Maverick, and Ranger. Several appear as official accessories on the Ford website.

The addition of a built-in vault invites commentary on American vehicle customization trends. At the same time, the extra step required to access contents after activating the power-sliding console may introduce a brief pause during moments of frustration.
