Bringing a child along to the job can prove either positive or negative depending on the context. This situation falls clearly on the negative side, as a young child accompanied her parents during at least one instance of stealing a vehicle, according to reports from NBC Miami. This refers to actual car theft rather than any video game.

It appears Jeyson Javier and Daniela Alfonso Dominguez were already being monitored, since the Broward Sheriff's Office Burglary Apprehension Team had been tracking the Honda Civic driven by Javier. Officers observed him stop, exit the driver's position while carrying a skateboard per Local 10, and approach an apartment complex parking area in Hollywood, Florida. He is said to have broken into a 2025 Honda CR-V, swiftly reprogrammed its system, and departed in it.

The Civic, likely operated by Dominguez, trailed Javier to a different apartment complex in Miami Gardens. Investigators think he removed a GPS device before abandoning the CR-V and rejoining the Civic. This matches the pattern of using an apartment complex to let a stolen car cool down, as noted in the arrest report.

Setting a poor example

Once out of the stolen CR-V, Javier got back into the Civic and left the area. Broward deputies soon stopped the vehicle and took both Javier and Dominguez into custody. From NBC Miami, the report stated that Dominguez was fully aware of Javier's actions in stealing the vehicle. She used her own car to bring them to the scene, followed the stolen car while Javier drove it, helped move it between two locations, and collected Javier after he hid the vehicle. Although Dominguez did not personally take the CR-V, she supported and enabled the entire crime until the arrest occurred.

Inside the Civic, officers discovered aftermarket Honda key fobs, a tablet used to program them, and assorted tools for breaking into cars. This was expected, yet the surprising find was the couple's daughter asleep in the rear seat. She at least remained asleep and avoided witnessing details. Still, the arrest report noted that they endangered the child's life by driving around to scout and steal vehicles. This hardly qualifies as good parenting behavior.

The pair now faces counts of grand theft auto, possession of burglary tools with intent, and child neglect without major injury. Javier also held outstanding warrants for grand theft auto, driving on a suspended license, loitering and prowling, plus resisting or obstructing officers. The sleeping child faced no charges.
