The Ferrari F80 with a removable roof has been spotted outside Maranello.
It's likely to have a smaller production run than the coupe.
Ferrari could launch the F80 Aperta in 2027.

Earlier this year Ferrari unveiled the Amalfi Spider, and the firm is now completing work on yet another convertible. The F80 Aperta was captured for the first time by Derek Photography near the Maranello works during testing in heavy camouflage. Although the thorough disguise implies extensive revisions versus the coupe, nearly all alterations seem concentrated above the cabin area.

Unlike the electrically folding roof on the Amalfi Spider, the F80 Aperta is expected to use a manually removable panel similar to the LaFerrari Aperta. The open-top hypercar will replace the coupe's fixed carbon-fiber roof with a fabric section that owners can probably store in the luggage compartment. Its predecessor also offered an optional carbon-fiber roof in exposed-weave or glossy black finishes.

Ferrari plans 799 coupes, and following typical practice the convertible edition will likely be produced in even smaller numbers. It may appear sometime in 2027 when the brand marks eighty years since its first production car, the 125 S. That initial Ferrari was itself an open-top sports model, making the timing suitable for an F80 Aperta introduction next year.

The F80 uses a V6 rather than a V12, yet demand remains strong among collectors. All coupe allocations sold before the car was revealed, so the Aperta version could also be claimed immediately. With its removable roof and probable lower output, it is expected to carry a higher price than the coupe that began near 3.7 million dollars before options.

The F80 Aperta forms part of twenty models planned by the end of 2030, including the debated electric Luce, the 12Cilindri Manuale with a simulated manual transmission, and possibly a 296 Challenge Stradale for the road. An additional exclusive Icona-series car is also anticipated, most likely powered by a V12 like the Monza SP1/SP2 and Daytona SP3.

Regarding the Luce, Ferrari has dismissed claims that it requires wealthy clients to order the electric model to obtain slots for rarer vehicles. The F80 Aperta will almost certainly rank among those exclusives, yet the company states that these top-tier cars carry no Luce-related conditions.

Motor1's Take: An Aperta model represents the natural progression as Ferrari broadens the F80 range. Whether the Aperta name will be retained is uncertain, since recent Italian trademark applications indicate possible alternatives such as F80 Targa or F80 Roadster.

Trademark records also support the likelihood of a track-focused XX variant, as rights have been secured for the F80 XX and FXX 80 designations. Any XX model without the Stradale label would be limited to circuit use only.
