June 7, 2026 - Plaintiffs in a new class action claim that the recent side airbag recall for the Honda Odyssey falls short of addressing all concerns.

The Honda Odyssey class action lawsuit covers 2018-2022 models sold or leased in California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Nebraska, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas.

Eligible minivans were acquired or leased starting May 25, 2017, through the present date.

The Honda Odyssey airbag class action lawsuit arrived roughly four weeks after Honda announced a recall of about 440,000 minivans in the U.S. to address the airbag issue.

Honda recalled 2018-2022 Odysseys with side airbags and side curtain airbags that might deploy without any collision. The company had received 25 injury reports and 130 warranty claims between January 24, 2017, and April 2, 2026, among roughly 440,000 vehicles.

The automaker traced the issue to improperly programmed airbag electronic control units. Rough roads, speed bumps or potholes could cause the side airbags to activate unexpectedly.

Honda calculated that 0.1 percent of the minivans faced a risk of sudden airbag deployments.

Dealers were instructed to reprogram the electronic control unit software or install new units. Honda also provided reimbursements for customers who had already paid for airbag repairs.

The Odyssey airbag recall came after a federal investigation began in October 2025.

The Honda class action alleges that dealers often decline to cover repairs even on vehicles still under warranty, with costs ranging from $3,000 to $11,000.

Although Honda Odyssey recall notices were sent only after the airbag lawsuit was filed, the plaintiffs contend the recall may not fully fix the minivans. The class action further notes that the Odyssey minivans have declined in value because of the airbag problems and recall.
