Over the years I have shared both my home and my car with several dogs. Most seemed less than thrilled about car travel. My basset hounds usually tolerated the trips and dozed in the rear seat, yet other dogs I have known clearly disliked the whole experience. None of them ever appeared eager to ride along with their head out the window and tongue hanging free. I have watched with envy as some owners carry their pets in carriers or sidecars during long motorcycle outings.
