Chery has shared additional information regarding the Stockman ute, set to arrive in Australian dealerships in the final quarter of 2026.

Initially, the Stockman will feature only a 2.5-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel plug-in hybrid powertrain. This system produces a combined 350kW and 800Nm, powering all four wheels.

However, specifics on the diesel engine and electric motor outputs remain undisclosed, as does the transmission type.

We also lack details on the battery pack size, yet the diesel PHEV version offers up to 100km of electric range, measured under the NEDC standard instead of WLTP.

With its diesel plug-in hybrid configuration, the Stockman provides an unbraked towing capacity of 750kg and a braked capacity of 3500kg.

It employs double wishbone suspension at the front and leaf springs at the rear. While cargo capacity details are pending, earlier indications suggest some versions may support a payload of up to 1000kg. The cargo bed dimensions are 1560mm in length, 1560mm in width, and 500mm in height.

The vehicle measures 5450mm long, 2010mm wide, and 1890mm tall, with a 3250mm wheelbase, making it 100 to 200mm longer and at least 100mm wider than leading models like the Toyota HiLux and Ford Ranger.

Chery designed the Stockman to handle tough off-road conditions. It offers more than 247mm of ground clearance, comes with all-terrain tires as standard, and includes selectable locks for the front, center, and rear differentials.

Complete specifications for the diesel plug-in hybrid ute will be available nearer to its launch this year. A petrol plug-in hybrid option is planned for 2027.
