Having produced more than 1,140 vehicles powered by the W16 engine, excluding test units and prototypes, Bugatti stands ready to end series output of this sixteen-cylinder motor. Beyond remaining one-off projects still in progress, this W16 Mistral marks the final series-production model to employ the engine, completing the roadster's limited run of 99 examples at Molsheim.

The last Chiron featured an elaborate hand-painted finish that proved difficult to surpass. Although this closing Mistral lacks quite the same flair, it presents an elegant combination of soft tones paired with refined accents. In addition to its visual appeal, the car carries what may be the most amusing paint name on record: one exterior hue is simply labeled Sparkle. The scheme also incorporates a falcon-head sculpture within the shifter, a crystal-glass insert in the console, and embroidered drawings across the door panels.

Attention remains on the Sparkle designation, yet the gold tone forms part of a restrained two-tone finish alongside a pearly white called Pearl across most body surfaces. Sparkle appears primarily along the lower body but also accents the mirrors, hood, and engine compartment. The phrase the last of its kind appears in Sparkle script beneath the wing, and matching lettering adorns aluminum plaques along the center console sides.

The wheels arrive in bright polished chrome, a finish rarely chosen on recent Bugattis, while the badges share the same treatment. Polished aluminum engine covers represent another uncommon selection. Most owners since the Veyron era have opted for either the standard exposed bay or painted covers. Designer Jascha Straub notes that only a small percentage select the polished finish because it shows dirt and develops patina more readily, which is precisely the appeal for some buyers.

Longstanding ties with French crystal specialists

The cabin is finished throughout in Magnolia leather, offset by grey carbon fiber on the doors and dash. Ettore Bugatti's signature appears on the headrests and aluminum door sills, replacing the standard script on the engine covers. Black-stitched sketches of a Veyron Super Sport, Chiron Super Sport, and Mistral adorn each door panel.

Further highlights involve the longstanding partnership with 138-year-old French crystal maker Lalique, dating back more than a century to the founders' friendship. Lalique supplied the frozen crystal plaque set into the console, depicting a motif reminiscent of classic hood ornaments and bearing the inscription Spirit of the Wind, a reference to the regional winds that inspired the car's name.

Personal touches inside the shifter

The original show car featured a prancing elephant encased in amber within a wooden shifter. Production versions switched to glass, and some owners chose plain leather instead. Others requested custom inserts such as a miniature Statue of Liberty, a 3D-printed rose, or a century-old Bugatti screw set into a mint-green example.

This final Mistral places a falcon head inside its wooden shifter as a tribute to regional significance in the Middle East. Potential alternatives could include a dinosaur fossil, shark tooth, vintage coin, or lunar sample, each offering distinctive character.

Completion of the Mistral series coincided with the opening of La Manufacture, Bugatti's new facility dedicated to the V16-powered Tourbillon. Although delivery timing for the first customer cars remains undisclosed, well-finished prototypes have already been sighted in testing. The updated site will support increasingly elaborate custom projects ahead.
