The BMW X3 earned the title of Australia’s top mid-size luxury SUV at the 2026 CarExpert Choice Awards.

It outperformed the Genesis GV70 and Volvo XC60 finalists while contributing to five total trophies for BMW in this year’s awards.

A recent redesign delivered a fresh bold appearance for the popular mid-size SUV both inside and out.

The cabin provides generous space and comfort with thoroughly modern features including the BMW iDrive 9.0 system and eye-catching ambient lighting although some controls feel fiddly and certain surfaces could use higher-grade materials.

Driving dynamics prove difficult to criticise as every X3 variant delivers engaging performance especially the M50 xDrive with its inline six-cylinder mild-hybrid powertrain while the base 20 xDrive also satisfies.
