With just 63,000 miles on the clock, today's featured GMC pickup looks like it just rolled off the assembly line. Described as a show truck, it comes with a price tag befitting that status. Let's see what we think about that.

While other brands have seen their lineups shrink over time, GMC Trucks appears to be thriving. General Motors' official truck division offers a selection of pickup trucks in sizes ranging from medium to full-size, as well as SUVs, vans, and commercial vehicles. It helps that much of the company's lineup is shared with Chevy.

That shared-platform approach between GMC and Chevy has been in place for decades, and the 1977 GMC Sierra Grande 2500 Pickup we're looking at today is essentially a Chevy C/K with different badges. It even has a Chevy engine under its hood, a 350 cubic inch V8 good for 140 horsepower and 250 pound-feet of torque. Behind that is a three-speed THM-350 automatic with column shift. And that's pretty much all there is.

Simple Simon

As denoted by the Sierra Grande badges, this truck is one rung up from base, having been equipped with the Z62 trim package. That brings color-coordinated vinyl and some wood trim on the door panels. Other than those touches, this truck is gloriously basic. There is no air conditioning, no power windows or door locks, and no headliner.

Tanks a lot

One area where GMC did not hold back was in fuel storage. There are two tanks under the bed, each filled through its own filler neck. Those should hold 16 gallons each, meaning a full tank would cost around $150 at current prices.

Not that this truck has used much fuel so far. According to the seller, it has only 63,000 miles, and it appears to have been well cared for throughout its life. This is a two-owner truck, but it looks as though it has barely left the dealer lot. An older listing reveals that the wheels were sandblasted, repainted, and fitted with new Michelin tires. Both listings note that the truck was undercoated at the dealer and shows no rust.

Originality counts

The seller also highlights how original this truck remains. The paint, aside from the wheels, is from the factory, and it retains all the proper decals on the door and air cleaner housing. The only non-original piece is a custom-made chrome rear step bumper. The dual exhausts with oversized angled tips also appear newer than 1977.

Everything else looks factory fresh and in amazing shape for its age and intended use. Is it fancy? No. Is it cool? Absolutely. According to the seller, this clean-title truck is perfect for car shows or daily driving, though the latter seems a bit much given that the low mileage adds to its appeal. With classic pickups popular right now, buying this as a showpiece might be the smarter choice.

Show me the money?

Of course, any showpiece comes at a showpiece price. In this case, that is a substantial $21,500. That is much lower than its previous asking price, but is it worth even this reduced amount?
