After Porsche Design launched its tower in 2018, Aston Martin followed with its own residential high-rise along Brickell's waterfront in early 2024. Standing 818 feet tall, nearly 200 feet higher than the Porsche structure in Sunny Isles Beach, it quickly rose as Miami's tallest residential building.

Just over two years later, those who purchased units there say the luxury tower already displays notable flaws.

Residents Detail Significant Problems

A recent Realtor.com report states that the condo association for Aston Martin Residences has identified numerous construction flaws in the two-year-old tower.

The group, which speaks for owners across the 66-story, 391-unit building, has pursued legal claims against developer Riverwalk East Developments plus multiple contractors and design firms tied to the project.

The filing describes cracked concrete, water intrusion, seawall corrosion, and balcony damage. It also highlights widespread sizable cracking that could point to safety risks and expensive fixes ahead.

Haber Law in Miami, counsel for the association, informed Realtor.com that addressing the claimed defects might total millions of dollars. The firm was contacted for more information, and updates will follow if replies arrive.

Riverwalk East Developments labeled the claims unfounded in remarks to Realtor.com, suggesting they may aim to shift focus from the association's own pending duties. The developer was also contacted for comment.

Broader Concerns in Miami

Issues at Aston Martin Residences reflect wider challenges for South Florida's lineup of branded luxury towers. A University of Miami study last year showed that numerous high-rises along the coast, including the Porsche Design Tower in Sunny Isles Beach, had settled by up to three inches from 2016 to 2023.

Researchers noted subsidence signs in 35 buildings spanning Sunny Isles Beach, Surfside, Bal Harbour, and Miami Beach.

The study found no immediate structural concerns at the Porsche tower, and specialists observed that minor settling is typical in new construction. The results nonetheless highlighted ongoing questions about long-term durability for high-end projects on the region's sandy shores.
