The Renault Arkana compact coupe SUV now includes electrification for Australian buyers, though it stops short of the full hybrid powertrain seen in South Korea.

It uses a 12V mild-hybrid setup paired with a 3.6kW electric motor. This system ranks among the milder options, as 48V versions have grown common, while 12V units appear mainly in models like the Suzuki Swift and Fronx plus the entry Renault Symbioz.

Output rises modestly from 115kW and 262Nm to 116kW and 270Nm, while the 0-100km/h sprint stays at 9.1 seconds. Renault Australia also highlights a smoother-shifting dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

Combined fuel consumption holds steady at 5.9L/100km, with city use improving from 7.6L/100km to 7.2L/100km. Highway figures worsen from 4.9L/100km to 5.2L/100km, and CO2 output edges up from 133g/km to 134g/km.

Renault still promotes the model as the Arkana Hybrid. The base Evolution variant disappears, leaving the Techno to start the range at $41,990 before on-road costs, a $500 increase, while the Esprit Alpine remains at $45,990 plus on-roads. Deliveries begin immediately.

Buyers seeking a small Renault SUV with full hybrid power must choose the Symbioz, offered from $36,990 plus on-roads in mild-hybrid form or $42,990 plus on-roads as a full hybrid.

A new matte Satin Grey paint option completes the Arkana updates following the 2024 refresh that introduced revised styling and the Esprit Alpine flagship.

In South Korea, where the Arkana is produced, an E-Tech hybrid pairs a 1.6-litre four-cylinder with a 36kW drive motor, a 15kW auxiliary motor and a six-speed automatic.

Renault Australia previously declined the full hybrid due to concerns it would weaken the Arkana value proposition.
