The United States is heightening pressure on Hezbollah while urging Israel to steer clear of strikes on Beirut during the current round of talks hosted in Washington.

Lebanon now ranks as a priority topic for the American administration.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that Hezbollah stands as an adversary not only to Israel and America but also to Lebanon and its citizens.

Rubio noted that Israel and Lebanon might already enjoy peace absent Hezbollah. He added that messages arrived through Lebanese officials and the Speaker on Hezbollah's behalf as early as Sunday, indicating restraint from targeting Israeli soil provided Israel refrains from fresh strikes in Beirut.

The leading American diplomat made these remarks before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee amid several hearings and sessions.

Reports suggest the US remains focused on a possible initiative to bolster the Lebanese army through training of selected units.

The concept, first floated earlier this year, envisions preparing vetted Lebanese troops. Rubio explained the goal is to build a working framework so that screened elements of the Lebanese Armed Forces gain the skills, gear and ability to confront Hezbollah factions and dismantle them, sparing Israel the need to act.

Washington worries that Hezbollah has pulled Lebanon back into conflict since March and is also concerned about Israel's military moves.

Recent accounts show the Lebanese army moving into the southern city of Tyre within a Christian section of the historic district, an area Israel has flagged as a Hezbollah stronghold in dense urban terrain.

US Ambassador to the UN Mike Waltz addressed Hezbollah's danger on Tuesday.

President Trump, who holds a personal interest in Lebanon, has outlined a clear path to halt the fighting: Hezbollah, which initiated the clashes, must cease its assaults on Israel, he posted online.

This step would open room for phased de-escalation and eventually an end to hostilities. Hezbollah has turned down the proposal repeatedly, leaving the route straightforward: Hezbollah must halt attacks on Israel.

The Lebanese Armed Forces together with Lebanon's recognized government must assume authority over national territory, while Iran must cease treating Lebanon as an advance base.

The Lebanese people, long burdened, would finally gain the opportunity to restore a nation that belongs to them rather than to Hezbollah, its leaders or Tehran.

The American emphasis on Lebanon aims to advance progress.

Yet numerous developments continue, including ongoing Hezbollah attacks and Israeli casualties from Hezbollah FPV fiber-optic drones inside Lebanon.

Signs of friction have also surfaced between the White House and Israel's Prime Minister regarding plans to hit the Dahiyeh district in southern Beirut, a situation closely watched by Hezbollah and Iran.

Iran seeks to leverage Lebanon within any Iran agreement, block Israeli gains and preserve Hezbollah's position. The Washington meetings among the US, Israel and Lebanon matter, but it remains uncertain what concrete changes will result.
