The UK Australia and Canada have established a new International Peace Fund aimed at fostering peace between Israel and Palestine as confirmed by the foreign ministers of the three nations last week.

The fund will focus on long-term peacebuilding initiatives between Israelis and Palestinians to tackle the underlying causes of the conflict and back a viable two-state solution according to the UK Foreign Office.

This effort aligns with the UK's broader strategy of deploying diplomatic humanitarian and practical measures to promote stability in the region.

It also builds on ongoing work to deliver humanitarian aid in Palestine address violent settlers and advance the 20-point Gaza peace plan the statement noted.

The launch followed trilateral discussions involving UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong and Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand.

The fund's creation formed part of wider talks on global peace efforts covering topics such as the Strait of Hormuz Ukraine Sudan and the worldwide issue of violence against women and girls.

Each nation has pledged one million pounds to initiate the fund which will pursue further contributions from other donors to expand its reach once active.

The three countries further imposed new sanctions targeting West Bank settlers and reaffirmed their dedication to disarming and dismantling Hamas under US President Donald Trump's 20-point Gaza peace plan.

They also renewed their pledge to combat antisemitism by safeguarding Jewish communities and upholding their freedoms in each country the statement concluded.
