The United States will target Iranian bridges and power plants in direct response to any Iranian fire on vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, President Donald Trump warned in a Wednesday post on Truth Social.

"The US will bomb and destroy one bridge or power plant, including those located next to, or in, the capital city of Tehran," Trump said.

This policy applies "from this point forward, any time the Islamic Republic of Iran shoots at a ship in the Strait of Hormuz," he stated.

The response applies whether Iran uses a "missile, rocket, drone, or any other device or weapon," the president said.

Trump made the remarks while traveling to Dover Air Force Base in Maryland to receive the remains of four US soldiers killed by Iran during their posting in Jordan.

"We cannot, we must not, allow Iran to have nuclear weapons. They will not have nuclear weapons," Trump said before leaving for Dover AFB.

"We are going to pay our respects to them, and that is one of the hardest things for me to do. As a person who serves as president, it is one of the hardest things, but it has to be done," he said regarding the duty to accept the soldiers remains.

A reporter on site asked Trump about the soldiers deaths and referenced a report claiming Iran struck their quarters at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base.

"I do not know. But they are going to pay a very heavy price. They are being hit hard. They are being destroyed," Trump responded.

Rubio: There are consequences for not keeping commitments

On Tuesday, Secretary of State Marco Rubio addressed recent strikes on Iran and noted that "the US remains open and willing to engage in positive, constructive negotiations and talks so long as the commitments that are made are kept."

However, "when those commitments are not kept, which is what has happened in this particular case, then there will be consequences," he stated.

Miller: Trump is only president with courage, foresight to take on Iran challenge

Homeland Security Advisor and White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Stephen Miller also commented during a Tuesday Fox News interview, saying that "Trump is the only American president who has had the courage, and the foresight, and the willingness to take this threat head on."

"The results have been very clear: the regime has been eviscerated militarily, financially, politically in every possible way," Miller added.

"That offramp is there, any time they want it, to make a deal and to honor and abide by that deal. But if they think they can cross America and get away with it, they and everyone watching around the world, has learned a very clear lesson about America and President Trump," he added.
