US President Donald Trump stated in a Fox News interview on Friday that the United States and Iran had reached several agreements that Iran later refused to recognize.

"We really had the outlines of a deal. Every time they make a deal, the next day it is like we did not have that conversation," Trump remarked.

The proposed agreement called for Iran to transfer its enriched uranium to the US, Trump claimed. He added that only the United States and China possess the specialized equipment required to recover the material buried under rubble from prior US-Israeli strikes.

To prevent any extraction ahead of a final accord, the US maintains surveillance of the site with nine cameras operated by the US Space Force, the president noted.

Internal Conflict in Iranian Leadership

Trump attributed the negotiation setbacks to internal divisions and uncertainty inside Iran's leadership.

"In a way, we have eliminated so many leaders that it is almost as if I am trying to figure out who we are dealing with," Trump said.

The president has voiced this view repeatedly in recent weeks, describing "tremendous discord" and noting that "the leadership is very disjointed." During one address he called Iran "the only country in the world where no one wants to be a leader."

Speaking to reporters later on Friday, Trump indicated he would accept an arrangement in which Iran halts uranium enrichment for 20 years.

"Twenty years is enough. It has to be a real 20 years, not a fake 20," Trump said, stressing that all nuclear material must be removed.

When asked whether the US would send forces into Iran to extract the uranium, Trump replied that Iran would be "totally defeated," removing any risk to such an operation.

"At the right time, we will either go in or we will get it," he added.
