Donald Trump might choose to unveil a preliminary agreement to conclude the conflict with Iran ahead of Friday, according to US Vice President JD Vance, following the president's claim that the pact had already been finalized.

Vance characterized the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran as roughly a page and a half in length and quite broad in nature.

High-ranking US officials have started sharing additional information on the pact, noting that the Strait of Hormuz is set to reopen on Friday, coinciding with the formal signing in Geneva.

Iran's Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi verified that fresh talks aimed at a final peace accord with the US would commence in Switzerland on the same day.

This development occurs as Trump participates in the G7 summit in France, which will include a special session on Iran on Tuesday with leaders from Egypt, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.

During discussions with French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday, Trump remarked that he was pleased to confirm the deal had been signed.

US officials indicated the document received electronic signatures from Trump, Vance and Iranian parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.

Technical discussions regarding Iran's nuclear program are anticipated to start this week, officials noted, while any sanctions relief or asset releases will hinge on Iran fulfilling its commitments.

Vance informed NBC News that nuclear inspectors would definitely gain reentry to Iran under the terms of the agreement.

One central element involves the International Atomic Energy Agency and the United States assisting Iran in dismantling its highly enriched uranium stockpile, a point made explicit in the document.

Although Trump had hinted that agreement details might appear soon after Friday's event, Vance suggested to Fox News that the president could opt to disclose the pact with Tehran earlier.

Vance previously explained to CNN's Jake Tapper that the memorandum serves as a broad framework, with many specifics to be resolved in upcoming negotiations.

On several matters, resolution will occur during the technical phase, yet the memorandum establishes a structure allowing Iran to receive benefits upon meeting its obligations, he stated.

The first paragraph specifies Iran's pledge to regional peace and stability, which encompasses halting support for militant groups, according to Vance.

Most crucially, Iran will provide a verifiable assurance against developing a nuclear weapon, Vance added.

G7 partners will seek to address Iran with Trump, as the UK and France have spearheaded efforts for a protective operation to safeguard vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump expressed doubt that the US would require extensive assistance to maintain open shipping lanes but welcomed the possibility of one or two vessels from allied nations in the key waterway.

The agreement extends the current ceasefire by an additional 60 days, allowing time for detailed final negotiations.

Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, whose country mediated the talks, announced the breakthrough on Sunday, highlighting the immediate and lasting halt to military actions across all fronts, including Lebanon.

US officials clarified that while Lebanon falls under the ceasefire framework, Israeli troop withdrawal from Lebanese soil is not required by the deal, though Israel retains self-defense rights.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated on Monday evening that Israeli forces would stay in security zones in Lebanon, Syria and Gaza for as long as needed and keep the ability to respond to threats.

He also affirmed at a news conference that Iran would be prevented from acquiring nuclear weapons regardless of any agreement.

Netanyahu spoke after Lebanese reports of an Israeli strike on a vehicle in the south, the first since the peace announcement, with Hezbollah claiming retaliatory missile and drone launches.

The Israel Defense Forces confirmed four fatalities in operations targeting militants.

Araghchi cautioned that Iran would regard any Israeli assault on Lebanon or ongoing presence there as a breach of the interim US agreement.

In Tehran's perspective, the memorandum involves the US and Israel on one side and Iran and Hezbollah on the other, he noted.

Trump announced on Sunday that he had directed the prompt lifting of a US naval blockade on Iranian ports and that the Strait of Hormuz would open upon signing of the initial pact.

He asserted on social media that vessels, many carrying oil, had begun transiting the strait.

Iran's deputy foreign minister Kazem Gharibabadi confirmed the end of hostilities in a state television interview, framing the framework deal as a success for Iran.

Gharibabadi mentioned that Qatari mediators conducted nearly 14 to 15 hours of extended discussions in Tehran to finalize the preliminary accord.

Iran's top military command asserted that Iranians, supported by armed forces and regional allies, had demonstrated to the US and Israel that surrender was their only option.

Yet Iran's foreign ministry emphasized ongoing deep distrust toward the US, describing the agreement as merely an initial move to ease tensions.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun welcomed the news, expressing hope that the understandings would lead to concrete actions ending the cycle of violence.
