Three Palestinian Civilians Hurt in West Bank IDF Actions

The Palestinian Ministry of Health claimed a seven-month-old infant died in the event, but the IDF has not verified this report.

Three Palestinians sustained injuries during IDF activities near Hebron in the West Bank on Friday, according to the military on Saturday. This followed a soldier discharging his weapon at a vehicle speeding toward him and fellow troops.

The IDF identified the injured Palestinians as uninvolved civilians who received medical evacuation.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health stated that two adults were hurt and a seven-month-old baby was killed in the incident, though the death has not been confirmed by the IDF.

The baby's grandmother informed Reuters that the family was traveling near a checkpoint when they spotted IDF vehicles and soldiers ahead and halted the car, initially thinking the shots were warnings.

"One bullet hit my grandson, passed through his face and head, then struck his mother's cheek and stayed there," she said.

She noted the bullet also grazed the father's finger, with the mother now receiving hospital care.

The IDF indicated the matter is being examined and conveyed regret over the injuries to uninvolved people.

Rising Strains at West Bank Checkpoints

Strains at West Bank checkpoints have grown in recent months after several vehicle-ramming assaults targeting IDF personnel.

In May, officers shot at the tires of a stolen vehicle from central Israel. The driver ignored orders to stop, broke through a police checkpoint, and struck a patrol car while trying to enter the West Bank.

Following the breach and collision, the vehicle sped toward nearby IDF soldiers, who felt their lives were threatened and shot at the tires.

In February, Israel Police reported arresting a suspect probed for an attempted ramming at a checkpoint near Jerusalem in the West Bank.
