Security forces discover large weapons cache during northern Israel operation

Border Police officers carried out a targeted raid on Friday morning in Yarka and recovered multiple firearms along with substantial quantities of ammunition from a residential building. The haul included a Carlo submachine gun with matching cartridges, rounds for M16 rifles, ammunition compatible with Jericho pistols and Kalashnikovs, components from a long firearm, a gas grenade and numerous additional rifle and pistol rounds.

Authorities took the 22-year-old local suspect into custody and transported him to the nearby station for interrogation. He was subsequently placed in detention. All seized items were removed for forensic examination and evidence processing. Investigators plan to request a court extension of the suspect's detention once initial inquiries conclude.

The action formed part of an ongoing Israel Police effort to reduce criminal activity within Arab-Israeli communities.

Two repeat offenders arrested after vehicle stop in Nazareth

On June 17 officers in Nazareth detained two men suspected of unlawful presence in the country. During a routine patrol, police stopped a vehicle whose license plate did not register in official records. The driver, aged 27, claimed both he and his 21-year-old passenger were Jerusalem residents and brothers. Checks revealed the pair were actually West Bank residents who had entered Israel without authorization.

Neither man held a valid driver's license. Further examination showed the vehicle had been purchased legally yet carried counterfeit plates. Records also indicated prior instances of illegal entry and travel under false identities with forged plates. Prosecutors later filed charges including unlawful residence, impersonation, obstruction of justice, use of fake plates and driving without proper licensing.

Driver indicted after fatal hit-and-run and attempt to conceal evidence

Following weeks of investigation, police on Thursday submitted an indictment against a 40-year-old Umm el-Fahm resident accused of reckless driving resulting in death, manslaughter, evidence tampering and related offenses. The incident occurred on June 12 when an off-duty IDF reservist was struck and killed on Highway 6.

Emergency teams responded to reports of a critically injured motorcyclist near a burning vehicle and a separate call from the car owner claiming theft. Witnesses observed someone igniting the car, prompting suspicion that the reported theft was fabricated. The owner was arrested and subsequent analysis linked him to the collision, showing the vehicle had been traveling near 130 kph. The motorcyclist, returning home after reserve duty, died at the scene.
