At his official inauguration ceremony on Tuesday, new Mossad chief Roman Gofman reunited for the first time since October 7 with the two United Hatzalah medics who rescued him during the massacre.

On October 7 morning, medic Moshe Weizman discovered Gofman, then commander of the Tzeelim military base, after he suffered multiple serious gunshot wounds in combat against Hamas terrorists.

Weizman began the evacuation and worked to maintain Gofman's consciousness until medic Elishiv Mizrachi arrived to assist in transporting him to Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon.

'A full-circle moment beyond words'

“We saw a wounded fighter on the side of the road, a courageous commander who spoke with us throughout the evacuation. We had one mission: keep him conscious and save his life. Who could have imagined that one day he would become the Director of the Mossad? Standing here at Mossad headquarters and watching him assume this position is a full-circle moment beyond words.”
