Iran Threatens Weapons-Grade Uranium Enrichment in Case of Renewed Attack

Former US President Donald Trump has stated that preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons was a key goal in initiating military action against Tehran.

Iran maintains that its nuclear activities are solely for civilian purposes, yet it has not transferred over 400 kg of uranium enriched to 60% - just a technical leap from the 90% needed for weapons.

With signs that the United States might resume hostilities, Ebrahim Rezaei, spokesperson for Iran's parliamentary national security and foreign policy commission, cautioned that Tehran could purify uranium to 90% if struck again.

"In response to any further aggression, one option for Iran is 90 percent enrichment. Parliament will deliberate on this," Rezaei wrote on X.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu insists the conflict persists due to Iran's reserves of enriched uranium.

"The fight continues because nuclear material - enriched uranium - remains in Iran and must be removed. Enrichment facilities still need dismantling," he said on CBS's 60 Minutes. When asked about extraction, he replied: "You enter and extract it."

Israel deployed Iron Dome missile defense systems and operators to the United Arab Emirates to protect it during the conflict with Iran, according to US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee speaking at a Tel Aviv event.

"A special thanks to the UAE, the first Abraham Accords partner," Huckabee noted. "See the advantages: Israel provided Iron Dome units and staff to manage them."

The UAE, which normalized relations with Israel in 2020 via the Abraham Accords and hosts key US bases, faced Iranian retaliation strikes following US and Israeli assaults on Tehran in late February.

Lebanon's National News Agency reported six fatalities and seven injuries from an Israeli strike on a home in Kfar Dounine overnight. Subsequently, Israeli forces demolished several houses in Bint Jbeil's neighborhood.

Israel Demands Evacuations from Southern Lebanon Communities

Israel's military instructed residents of Arzun, Tayr Debba, al-Bazouriyeh, and al-Hawsh in southern Lebanon to flee at least 1,000 meters to open areas ahead of strikes.

IDF Arabic spokesperson Avichay Adraee posted the order, attributing it to Hezbollah - Iran's ally in Lebanon - breaching the US-brokered ceasefire with Lebanon from mid-April.

Experts in international law criticize Israel's alerts as vague and inconsistent, with some strikes unannounced. Over one million have been displaced since Hezbollah's March 2 missile launches responding to US-Israeli strikes on Iran.

Lebanon's health ministry reports at least 2,869 deaths from Israeli actions since March 2, including numerous civilians.

A ceasefire to enable US-Iran peace discussions took hold in April and has mostly held, despite skirmishes and incidents in the Strait of Hormuz, now blockaded by both US and Iranian forces, severely limiting ship traffic.

The US proposed a 14-point, one-page deal last week to reopen the strait and outline nuclear talks.

Iran countered on Sunday, which Trump dismissed as "totally unacceptable." Tehran's terms demanded sanction relief, blockade end, war cessation with security pledges, and Israel's halt in Lebanon.
