Masked individual shatters doors at Channel 12 and leaves threatening note

A masked person broke the glass entrance doors at Channel 12 News headquarters in Tel Aviv late on July 28 in the second such event this month.

A note discovered at the location appeared to come from the vandal and demanded that the broadcaster issue an apology regarding the Sde Teiman affair. The message warned that without an apology the next brick would target one of the staff members heads.

Even an apology that is not sincere will suffice. Treat this note with full seriousness or someone will end up dead the letter read.

Officers who responded opened an investigation into suspected property damage. No suspect has been detained and the persons identity is unknown according to police sources.

Camera recordings captured the individual approaching the building with a covered face holding two bricks and hurling them at the doors. The glass broke and the person escaped before officers arrived.

Herzog Lapid and Bennett respond to assaults on N12

President Isaac Herzog spoke with Police Commissioner Daniel Levy after the incident and stated that violence must not be tolerated as a means to intimidate or silence opinions. Any harm to a media outlet amounts to an attack on democracy.

He called for swift police action to identify and prosecute those responsible while sending a clear signal of zero tolerance for violence and intimidation attempts.

Free media forms a foundation of democracy especially during election periods noted a joint statement from Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid on social media.

An effort to harm news staff in Israel crosses a red line and the police must handle it at once with full seriousness the statement continued. In the next government we will protect press freedom and prevent intimidation of journalists. Together we will repair.

Israel Police stated that Commissioner Daniel Levy regards the event with great concern viewing it as a serious breach of democratic principles and press freedom.

The statement indicated that the Tel Aviv district commander received orders to deploy every resource to find arrest and charge the offender.

Door vandalism follows earlier graffiti incidents

Besides marking the second door shattering in a month the episode comes after multiple graffiti attacks on the news company in recent months.

One instance featured sprayed text stating To the criminal police and the channels of injustice and foolishness against those who study the holy Torah I will settle the score with you. Consider yourselves warned sons of death.

Police also investigated that case for vandalism yet the suspect has not been identified.

Comparable acts against media outlets have taken place before. In November 2025 graffiti appeared on Channel 13 offices in Tel Avivs Ramat Hahayal area reading The blood of the traitors will yet be cleared for publication. Police opened an inquiry in that matter as well.
