There remain numerous specifics to resolve in the initial peace agreement between the United States and Iran, as stated by Vice President JD Vance during a CNBC interview on Monday.

Vance also indicated that the United States expects the Strait of Hormuz to stay open without any tolls over the long term following the signing, set for Friday.

The accord, revealed on Sunday, seeks to prolong the US-Iran ceasefire by 60 days and create a structure for upcoming talks on key matters. Yet the full text of this preliminary deal has not been made public.

"That is the sort of matter that we will address in these technical negotiations," Vance said about the Strait.

"You know there are many critical details to settle that we will actually discuss together at the table and map out a way ahead," he said.

Iran's nuclear program

Among the matters still pending is the final status of Iran's nuclear program.

Vance emphasized that although Iran has "committed to destroy and dispose of their stockpile of highly enriched material," the exact method remains undefined.

"And what we have said is, let us discuss precisely how we will accomplish that," he noted.

"They seek access to an unsanctioned economy. We have indicated we are open to that, but it would demand a sustained commitment to the inspection and verification regime," he added.

Regarding participants at Friday's signing, Vance informed CNBC that Iran's foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi, along with parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, are anticipated to attend.

He did not specify the US representative for the event.
