Israeli operation seizes cash and property from terrorists and relatives receiving PA stipends

Israeli security personnel seized hundreds of thousands of shekels in cash along with property and vehicles valued at nearly NIS 100000 during a major Wednesday operation that targeted homes of terrorists and their families who receive payments from the Palestinian Authority.

Police searched several residences including the home of Muhammad Abd al-Rahman Abad who participated in an attempted suicide attack in Jerusalem in 2002.

They also entered the residence of Ahed Faiz Ali al-Natasha a Hamas operative who helped plan a 2001 car bomb attack in the parking area of an apartment building in Pisgat Ze'ev and the assault at the Clal Center in Jerusalem that wounded two police officers and ten civilians.

Palestinian Authority sustains payments to terrorists according to US State Department findings

In March the US State Department notified Congress that the Palestinian Authority continues to issue payments to terrorists and their families despite earlier pledges to halt the pay for slay arrangements.

The report indicated that a total of 156 million dollars was disbursed to terrorists and their relatives. Of that amount 126 million dollars went to Palestinian terrorists including some freed from Israeli detention while 30 million dollars reached families of terrorists who died carrying out attacks. The PA had committed to providing families with 214 million dollars overall.

These transfers persisted even after PA President Mahmoud Abbas enacted reforms to the West Bank welfare framework last year that shifted aid toward a needs-based approach instead of amounts tied to sentence length.

The State Department noted that the PA maintains a compensation structure supporting terrorism through revised channels and under altered labels. The assessment drew on data from the Israeli government public sources and nongovernmental organizations.
