History offers no precedent for an Islamist terrorist group truly reforming; instead, they adapt tactics, aliases, and employ taqiyya - strategic deception against non-believers. To many, this agent betrays Western values for financial gain.

Who is this representative promoting, and why does it matter?

The People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (MEK) stands as one of the most prominent yet polarizing Iranian opposition entities. Established in 1965, it began as a student-driven Marxist revolutionary force before becoming an exiled advocate for overthrowing Iran's regime.

The MEK's record includes violent clashes, forced exile, and aggressive global PR and lobbying efforts. Its affiliate, the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), works to sanitize its violent past and portray it as a credible alternative in Iran's opposition arena.

MEK and NCRI operate inseparably, like hand in glove. Far from a genuine opposition, they form a disaffected, isolated, and heavily financed terrorist outfit - merely re-cloaked predators. Regrettably, some Western figures receive their funding, while others, like this agent, earn a paycheck.

In the red-green alliance paradigm, MEK/NCRI exemplifies the fusion of radical Islamism and Marxist fervor. The group long prioritized armed resistance against tyranny. Massoud Rajavi ascended to leadership in the late 1960s after the Shah's regime executed its founders.

During the 1979 Islamic Revolution, MEK backed Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, gaining traction through anti-monarchy rhetoric and discipline. Clashes with Khomeini ensued, prompting Revolutionary Guard suppression; MEK then resorted to terrorism domestically, sparking a fierce regime backlash. Leaders escaped abroad.

Rajavi relocated to Paris, forming NCRI within its covert structure. In 1986, it moved to Iraq, partnering with Saddam Hussein amid the Iran-Iraq War. This alliance, plus attacks on Iranian civilians for terror aims, estranged many compatriots and invited treason charges. MEK remains broadly despised in Iran as traitorous.

Through the 1990s and early 2000s, the US, UK, EU, and Canada listed MEK as terrorists. Following a claimed abandonment of violence - with no acknowledged attacks for over ten years - Western nations removed the designation.

Rebranding Terror: Unchanged Ideology, Fresh Facade

Such shifts stemmed from strategic geopolitics and dilemmas over resettling MEK fighters from Iraq to Albania - no nation welcomes terrorists nearby. Thus, aggressive whitewashing, polished PR, and vows of "reform" rendered it acceptable.

Yet, beyond surface renunciations, delistings resulted from lavish lobbying and media maneuvers, akin to the agent's role. Notably, no Islamist terror group has verifiably forsaken its core ideology or violent methods.

MEK/NCRI followers revere Maryam Rajavi, wife of the long-vanished Massoud, presumed deceased for 20 years. Her pronouncements and 10-point Iran plan hold near-sacred status.

Outwardly, they promote secular democracy, women's rights, and a non-nuclear Iran. Yet, voices from Iran and its diaspora frequently dismiss MEK/NCRI and Rajavi as illegitimate.

Charges of cultish behavior arise from their rigid uniformity - scripted rhetoric suggestive of indoctrination.

After a tense on-air clash with an agent-placed speaker, I questioned the representative about his promotion. Typically, publicists craft client messages; here, the agent echoes his employers' line.

Upon confirmation, he labeled them "former" terrorists, evoking peace anthems with "people change."

Drawing on our past acquaintance, I pressed: "Recall your inquiry about them - your view is flawed. They deceive you and the public. Prioritize integrity over booking terrorists."

Dodging substance, he retorted about the "baby Shah" - a slur against Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi, backed by millions of Iranians yearning for his return to reclaim the nation's lost promise after 47 dark years.

Now, the agent postures as an Iran expert, parroting his paymasters' dismissal of rivals.
