Iran has forwarded its response to the most recent US ceasefire proposal to mediators in Pakistan, according to Tehran's official IRNA news agency on Sunday.

The discussions, as described by Iranian sources, center on achieving 'ending the war in the region.'

Tehran's counterproposal emphasizes halting hostilities across all fronts, with special attention to Lebanon, Iranian state television indicated. The semi-official ISNA news agency added that it addresses maritime security in the Persian Gulf and Strait of Hormuz.

A Pakistani diplomatic official confirmed to Al Jazeera on Sunday that Iran's position has been relayed to the United States.

This development comes after US President Donald Trump stated on Fox News Wednesday that Iran had one week to reply to Washington's peace initiative.

'They want to make a deal. We've had very good talks over the last 24 hours, and it's very possible that we'll make a deal,' Trump remarked to reporters in the Oval Office, adding later, 'it'll be over quickly.'

An Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson informed CNBC on Wednesday that the US proposal was under evaluation.

The previous Sunday, Trump announced he had examined Iran's most recent peace offer and deemed it 'not acceptable.'

Earlier that Sunday, Al Jazeera detailed Iran's 14-point ceasefire framework.

The proposal outlines three primary phases, including a 30-day period to convert a truce into a full termination of conflict. It serves as a direct counter to the US nine-point plan.

Reports indicate the Iranian document demands the US remove sanctions against Iran, lift blockades on its ports, pull back American troops from the area, and stop all aggressive actions, encompassing Israel's operations in Lebanon.
