The IDF will persist until every individual involved in the October 7 massacre faces justice, IDF Chief of General Staff Eyal Zamir stated on Wednesday during an operational review in the Gaza Strip.

"We are carrying out the security strategy we set, not only here but across all of Israel's borders," Zamir noted. This approach positions the IDF at the forefront to safeguard communities and residents.

The IDF chief expressed gratitude to the Southern Command and praised units in the Gaza region for their sustained offensive efforts and ongoing work to shield residents near the Gaza Strip.

He highlighted recent actions that eliminated Nukhba and October 7 terrorists, noting that tracking all participants in the massacre remains a steady mission executed successfully by the command.

On August 5, 2026, the day that would have marked Ariel Bibas' seventh birthday, Zamir remarked that images from the communities, the Bibas family, the surveillance soldiers, and all October 7 victims remain in view daily.

IDF military action in the Gaza Strip

Zamir shared details on IDF operations in Gaza, stating that Hamas has been struck, substantially weakened, and the security situation has been altered at its core.

"The IDF will keep operating proactively based on the principle we set to eliminate threats and protect communities along with their residents in every case," he added.

Over the weekend, the IDF conducted strikes in Gaza that killed several Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorists, among them Mahmoud Fatair, a PIJ Central Gaza Brigade commander who entered Israel on October 7 and participated in holding Rom Braslavski hostage.

Yet operations extend beyond Gaza, Zamir stressed.

"The Gaza front forms part of a multi-front effort. Last week I met troops in southern Lebanon, and here I observe the same spirit of initiative, determination, and commitment to the mission," Zamir said.

"This spirit allows us to continue applying the principle we established and keep the initiative," he continued.

"We will not allow a threat to emerge on our borders like the one we experienced during the October 7 massacre."
