Just one day after Commanders for Israel's Security urged President Donald Trump to lean on the Israeli government about West Bank matters, the HaBitchonistim movement, also known as the Israeli Defense and Security Forum, delivered its own opposing letter to the White House.

The document carries the signature of chairman Brig.-Gen. (res.) Erez Wiener and speaks for what the group describes as tens of thousands of reserve officers, commanders, and combat veterans.

HaBitchonistim contends that the earlier appeal paints a misleading view of security conditions and revives the failed idea of achieving peace by making concessions, an approach it says has already damaged Israel's position.

The letter recalls that the same organization backed the 2005 Gaza withdrawal and the Iran nuclear deal, steps the movement believes emboldened hostile groups and helped set the stage for the October 7 attack.

It further warns that equating scattered West Bank events with the October 7 massacre reflects moral failure and unfairly stains the reputations of hundreds of thousands of residents in Judea and Samaria.

The narrative of widespread settler violence, the letter states, rests on inflated or fabricated reports that shift focus away from the real dangers of Palestinian terrorism and Iranian attempts to gain influence in the area.

At the same time, the movement insists every violent act must face swift investigation and legal consequences no matter who commits it.

It adds that statistics from the United Nations and aligned groups often count non-violent occurrences, and many accusations against settlers have later been disproven.

As an illustration, the letter points to a fire first blamed on settlers that police later traced to a faulty illegal power line.

The message closes by urging President Trump to keep distinguishing facts from spin and to uphold the strong partnership between the United States and Israel.

Along with the letter, HaBitchonistim began a public petition that calls for greater backing of IDF troops, support for Israeli sovereignty in the territories, and a clear statement that security choices belong in Jerusalem rather than Washington.

The group invites citizens to add their names to the petition and show solidarity with the country's defense efforts.
