Five people lost their lives in road accidents throughout Israel from Saturday into Sunday. This includes a woman in her 50s who died in a four-vehicle pile-up near Atlit on Sunday morning.

The crash happened on Route 2 close to Atlit. Magen David Adom paramedics declared her dead at the scene and cared for six others, including a man in his 60s who suffered serious injuries yet stayed conscious with a head wound. Five more people received treatment for light injuries.

The wreck created a traffic backup stretching several kilometers on northbound Route 2 before the Zichron Ya'acov Interchange. Police shut the road and rerouted drivers onto Route 4.

Two men killed in crash on Route 854

A day earlier two men in their 30s died and another man in his 30s was seriously hurt when two vehicles collided on Route 854 near Lapidot.

MDA crews found the two men unconscious with multiple injuries. After resuscitation attempts paramedics had to pronounce them dead.

Medical teams took the seriously injured man to Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya. He arrived with reduced consciousness and multiple injuries.

Foreign worker killed while riding all-terrain vehicle

Also on Saturday a foreign worker in her 40s died in a hit-and-run after a vehicle struck her all-terrain vehicle near Tzochar in the Eshkol Regional Council.

MDA teams gave treatment at the scene then transported her to Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba with multiple injuries. She was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police searched for the driver who fled and examined the crash details.

Elderly man killed in three-vehicle collision on Route 4

On Sunday a 93-year-old man died in a three-vehicle crash on Route 4 near Ra'anana Junction.

MDA crews treated him at the scene before taking him to Meir Medical Center in serious condition. He remained conscious with a head injury during transport.

He was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at the medical center.
