Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi disclosed that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had raised questions about Egypt's military expansion, asking why the country was acquiring more weapons and strengthening its forces.

At a graduation event held at the Egyptian Police Academy, Sisi made clear that these measures are purely for defensive purposes to secure the nation and uphold stability in a challenging region.

"Netanyahu bears responsibility for his nation and understands fully that Egypt poses no danger," Sisi remarked.

He recounted an instance where Netanyahu directly inquired, "Why are you arming yourself?" and "Why are you buying weapons?"

Sisi Affirms Egypt's Military Power Does Not Threaten Israel

Sisi advised Netanyahu to regard Egypt's military strength similarly to how Egypt perceives Israel's capabilities.

"I explained that Israel's power has never appeared threatening to me, and you should see Egypt's strength in the same light," he stated.

The president noted that a robust military is vital for stability and defense of interests.

"In this unstable region, strength is necessary to maintain peace not just with Israel but across the area," Sisi added.

Egypt's approach focuses on building capable forces to deter threats and protect peace achievements.

Sisi Notes Netanyahu's Stance Against Palestinian State for Stability

Connecting to broader relations, Sisi mentioned urging Netanyahu since 2013 that a Palestinian state would foster regional peace and Israel's acceptance in the Middle East.

"I conveyed that creating a Palestinian state offers genuine stability for everyone," he said.

"It would allow true integration of Israel into the region, but he remained unconvinced."

These comments arise as Israel expresses concerns about Egyptian forces in Sinai and military growth, with strains in official ties.

Sisi confirmed Egypt's dedication to the peace treaty with Israel and denies any covert intentions toward Israeli lands.
