Israel Police detain Bat Yam man over repeated sexual offenses against granddaughters

Israel Police took a 59-year-old Bat Yam resident into custody on July 12 after he was accused of committing serious sexual offenses against his two minor granddaughters on multiple occasions.

Authorities received the initial report of suspected abuse on July 6 and opened an inquiry at the local Bat Yam station.

Officers collected evidence, recorded statements, and questioned everyone connected to the case.

The probe produced strong proof that the suspect had assaulted his granddaughters and had told investigators he acted to prepare them for adulthood.

Indictment expected shortly

Less than a week after the complaint, police arrested the man and brought him in for questioning.

His detention was extended several times before prosecutors submitted a formal statement on Monday morning.

A detailed indictment listing severe sexual offenses is anticipated within the next few days.
