Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas urged swift international steps to halt settler attacks in the West Bank along with continued Israeli military operations, according to a statement issued on Sunday.

Abbas described the violence as a deliberate and organized policy rather than random acts, warning that it seeks to weaken the Palestinian Authority and block any chance for a two-state outcome.

He pointed to widespread damage to homes, places of worship, and farmland, as well as hundreds of civilian injuries tied to the latest flare-ups that also touched East Jerusalem.

The statement noted that Abbas had dispatched letters seeking assistance from Arab governments, the European Union, the president of the UN Security Council, and the secretary-general of the Arab League.

Those messages stressed the duty of the international community to prevent forced displacement of Palestinians and to ensure Israel faces consequences, while recalling UN Resolution 2334 on the status of settlements.

Recent Clashes Between Israelis and Palestinians in the West Bank

The appeal follows a fresh round of settler violence in the territory.

Late Saturday a mosque in the village of Kusra was set ablaze after a deadly attack the previous day on an Israeli agriculture official and an army major.

Five more vehicles were torched in Beitillu, while tractors and trucks burned near Khirbat Abu Falah; two Palestinians were assaulted and later treated at a hospital.

The preceding week also brought attacks on Israelis, including a fire and two stabbings on Thursday, plus a rock-throwing incident on Saturday that wounded two men and led to a weapon being stolen.

In response, the IDF Central Command chief barred Palestinian laborers from entering Israeli communities in the area.
