Walmart (NASDAQ: WMT) does not fit the classic dividend profile, given its growth-stock behavior in recent periods. Although lagging this year, it has outpaced the broader market over three years with a 128% advance versus 76% for the S&P 500 (SNPINDEX: ^GSPC).

Still, it stands out as a true Dividend King, having lifted payouts for at least fifty consecutive years, with 2026 marking the 53rd annual increase.

Walmart's dividend yield remains modest at today's elevated share price. It has fallen steadily from 3% a decade ago to just 0.85% currently.

At the latest quote, $10,000 purchases 87 shares. Following the fresh increase, the quarterly payout stands at $0.99 per share, up from $0.94 previously, producing $86.13 in yearly income. The sum is modest for retirement needs, yet it supplies dependable passive cash flow that rises annually and can anchor a wider dividend collection.

Unlike many income names that trade growth for yield, Walmart also offers meaningful appreciation potential. An investment of $10,000 placed three years earlier would now equal $22,000, more than doubling the original stake while also delivering cumulative dividends.
