A few standout companies have exceeded this benchmark despite ongoing challenges. These include Moderna, Krystal Biotech, and Advanced Micro Devices. Each has delivered strong returns, yet analysts see additional potential ahead.

1. Moderna

Moderna continues to push forward with new vaccine candidates. It is nearing approval for its mRNA-based flu shot known as mRNA-1010. This offering targets better protection for older adults where existing options often fall short. Success here would mark a notable expansion beyond its initial focus.

Additional milestones are expected in the coming two years, such as a norovirus vaccine launch and multiple study results. The pipeline features promising programs like the personalized cancer vaccine mRNA-4157 now in mid- and late-stage trials. These developments could drive both clinical progress and improved financial performance, supporting further share gains over the longer term despite the stock doubling in value already this year.

2. Krystal Biotech

Krystal Biotech has benefited from the launch of Vyjuvek, its treatment for dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa. This rare genetic disorder causes fragile skin and painful blisters from minor contact. As the first approved therapy for the condition, Vyjuvek has fueled rapid revenue and earnings growth. The company has now recorded eleven straight quarters of positive earnings per share.

Expansion into additional European markets and beyond should sustain top-line momentum. The firm also maintains a pipeline of over six candidates with upcoming data readouts expected. Strong sales of the lead product combined with new potential approvals position the company for continued outperformance. Shares have climbed 38 percent this year, yet further upside remains possible.

3. Advanced Micro Devices

AMD shares have jumped 129 percent year to date. Solid financial results form part of the story, but the company is also well placed to benefit from artificial intelligence expansion. Two factors stand out. AMD holds a leading position in server CPUs, which are set to grow in importance with agentic AI systems that operate with minimal oversight. Industry estimates suggest this could create a sizable new market opportunity.

AMD has also increased its share in the desktop CPU segment, reaching 33.2 percent in the latest quarter and a record 46.2 percent revenue share. This reflects stronger pricing power versus competitors. These trends support ongoing participation in the AI boom, making the stock attractive even after its recent advance.
