The SpaceX IPO summarized

Although recognized mainly as Elon Musk's rocket firm, the high valuation of $1.77 trillion aligns better knowing it includes Starlink for satellite internet, an AI system powering Grok on X (which it owns), and a developing semiconductor producer. These represent growing sectors with potential longevity.

The business is nearly profitable. It reported a loss of about $2.6 billion last year against revenue nearing $18.7 billion in 2025, with much of the deficit from increased R&D. Revenue costs run around half the sales. Additional growth should lead to profits, which is the core investment thesis.

Notably, retail investors may access the offering through brokers like Fidelity, Robinhood Markets, SoFi Technologies, E*TRADE from Morgan Stanley, and Charles Schwab, as up to 30% of shares are allocated there.

Most will not receive direct shares, as only 555.6 million shares worth $75 billion are issued, equating to 4% of the company. Others buy post-IPO on the market.

No assurances

Exercise caution. While some IPOs surge initially, the majority fall below their early highs and often the offering price within weeks due to fading hype.

Thus, waiting for calm after the excitement could prove wise.
