While not copying her moves directly, I value Cathie Wood and her forward-looking strategy at Ark Investment Management. Wood avoids chasing trends or reacting to broad economic shifts. Instead she favors a contrarian stance focused on high-growth technology, financial innovation, and transformative platforms that may appear risky at first glance.

The holdings across her exchange-traded funds are typically purchased at attractive valuations and carry the potential for substantial long-term returns. Tesla serves as a prime illustration. The stock has fallen roughly 20 percent year to date, including an 18 percent decline after the second-quarter earnings release.

Wood and her $2,600 price target for Tesla

Cathie Wood ranks among the most optimistic analysts on Wall Street regarding Tesla. She maintains a 2029 target of $2,600 per share, implying more than 700 percent upside from current levels.

Although Tesla continues development of Optimus humanoid robots, Wood places greater emphasis on the company's robotaxi program and full self-driving software. She expects the majority of future value to come from autonomous transportation, referencing Musk's projection that robotaxis could expand more rapidly than competing services and reach half of major U.S. cities by year-end.

Vehicle deliveries rose 25 percent year over year in the second quarter to 480,126 units. Tesla is deploying early versions of its v15 autonomous software to prepare robotaxis, while customers already use a supervised full self-driving release. The company reports nearly 12 million miles driven under supervised conditions, with v14 software expanding to users in the United States and South Korea this year. Successful rollout of unsupervised full self-driving capability would allow any equipped Tesla to operate as a robotaxi, reshaping the rideshare sector.

Tesla has started production of the Cybercab, described as the core vehicle for its robotaxi fleet. Unsupervised operations are currently approved in Austin, Texas, and the Florida cities of Miami, Orlando, and Tampa.

Wood's target is bold yet consistent with her pattern of backing disruptive technologies. As Tesla faces market pressure this year, further share purchases by Ark Invest would not be surprising.
